Tip Sheet

There are some wonderful "Virtual Stable" games where the kids raise virtual horses. We are often asked if they can use photos from our websites in their virtual stable. The kids are always polite and we get links back. It looks like a lot of fun.

I think educational online games is good and safe. Games for math, reading, and even biology.

Games that include an educational element, for instance in the form of word skills or arithmetic. That way, the kids are learning through play, which is very beneficial for development.

I strongly recommend sites that promote both IQ and EQ through entertainment and education. Remember it is the kids playing, so they have to like the site. A good dose of entertainment transferring IQ and EQ secretly is great!

I strongly advice against worldofwarcraft! I have a grandson (14yrs) who is addicted to this ****. He plays it 8 hours per day, and his school sucks. His younger sister (8) has some fun with neopets together with her friends, without any bad side-effects

Games that do not include adverts or product placements. There is already too much advertising around without exposing kids to it further.

Many websites about the kids' favorite show/toys have great, age-appropriate games: disney.go.com/princess for Disney Princesses lego.com, starwars.com, playhousedisney.com, cartoonnetwork.com, and noggin.com
