Stay alert, use common sense, and be aware of your surroundings. If you think you are being followed, step into a store or another safe place and wait to see whether the person passes by.

My wife travels a lot for work. I only had to ask her once why she doesn't rent a house on her trips, her answer: "Security." "Nuff said." I replied. Name brand hotels are the way to go, I think, when traveling alone one business.

Don't dress like a tourist (camera around neck etc). Dress normally, and carry your handbag in a secure carrier bag tucked close to your body so it won't get snatched
