Tip Sheet

The traditional must see in London is the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace (my favorite A.A. Milne poem)and a visit to the Royal Mews. I loved the Tower of London with its stories told down through the ages and of course, the Crown Jewels.

Visit the 38 City of London Churches from All Hallows-by-the-Tower in the East to St Dunstan-in-the-West, er, in the West. Stop off at the nine spots where the towers of former churches remain. Pick up a copy of Betjeman's City of London Churches.

Walk alongside the River Thames. The views are fantastic and there are interesting displays, monuments, bars and restaurants all the way. A great way to discover parts of central Londont that you might otherwise not yet to see.

Trafalgar Square, where you can take pictures with a lot of pigeons and feed them with corn or dry bread. It's an experience to be in the middle of thousands of pigeons at once...

For a bit of history, go to the British Museum and make sure you see the famous Rosetta Stone - the actual stone that was the key to deciphering hieroglyphics, which in turn opened up so much knowledge about the Ancient Egyptians and their culture.
