Dominate the class is the simple answer to classroom survival. Dominate them by your body language and by talking a bit slower than usual. Body language includes standing still and eyeballing each student as they come in and moving slowly around the room

The people who train teachers are people who have never had to control a class of big 16 year old testosterone fuelled students. The goody two shoes stuff they give their students is totally useless in terms of class control.

Students are taught to move quickly around a room. This will irritate students and prevent them from settling down to work. A teacher needs to move steadily around the room. The slower pace is an indication of self-confidence, too.

Teachers should also be willing to stand near each student for a moment or two. This is especially helpful when students begin to lose focus. They will instantly pay attention when they see the teacher approaching.
