Tip Sheet

May youngest had a hard time when we lost our six year old cat in a fire. It has been three year and we have new cats, but he still misses and talks about the old cat. My son was six at the time. Having a picture and talking about it is the best way.

Pet Loss - One thing I did when I lost my cat who was 13 years old was to make a shadow box memorial of her and my mother payed for me to have a box of her ashes.

Children seem to bounce back faster than adults when it comes to pet loss but helping at the time deal with the is harder. They have to understand the issue of the death of thier pet and by having a grave side service and memorial will help closure

I still remember the time when my pet mouse died. i was so sad and i wrote her a long good-bye letter. mom wanted to keep it but i didn't so we buried it with the mouse and lit a candle and said good bye and mom and i both cried but i got over it.
