Dine Out Without Going Broke

Tip Sheet Credibility: 23

submitted by RosalynDavis 2010-12-19 10:17:47 am

In the age of supersized portions and supersized prices, it makes sense to order one appetizer, one entree, and one dessert to share. If you just order water with lemon, you won't add to the bill. Just make sure you won't get charged for sharing.

Save money on Kids Beverages eating out

Tip Sheet Credibility: 18

Order ice water and lemon wedges instead of soft drinks. The water with lemon wedge makes it more interesting than plain water. The kids will add sugar and try to make lemonade. Most resturants do not charge for water with one lemon wedge.

Remember that your waiter or waitress is not responsible for the quality of the food, only the quality of the service. Don't punish the wait staff for bad food. Tip them for their service and discuss the food quality with the manager.

Provide a business card or flyer for each guest personalised with the event you're attending. A unique domain works best for large events. Put the images up on the site for view or purchase asap (a selection will do if the whole archive is unreasonable).

A Tip about Leaving Tips

Tip Sheet Credibility: 10

submitted by claywalsh 2009-07-22 12:22:21 am

To me, eating out is a luxury. So a server has to be really bad before I leave a tip less than 20%. I don't think I've ever not tipped at all. But my mom was a server when I was a kid, so I guess I empathize with them.

Works best if the restaurant is one you frequent often. Ask to speak with the manager and TELL them what you like about their establishment. They'll appreciate the kind feedback and you'll benefit in kind. Next time you stop by you'll be remembered.

Avoid fast food restaurants. These give a false impression to children of what eating out is like, can create bad eating habits, and will give children expectations of food which are different to that served in quality restaurants.

Many restaurants allow kids to eat free. Call local restaurants and ask if they have this policy. Make a list and store it on your computer so you can refer back to it when you want to eat out with the kids.

Tip Sheet Credibility: 4

submitted by suepaige27 2010-06-25 05:25:59 pm

try not to make two dozen requests throughout the dining experience. if you know of something you want or need, get it straightened out right from the start. this will make all the difference for you and the tables near you if the place is busy.

First be sure to check the expiration date on the coupon you wish to use at any particular time before going to the resturant. Also check the locations where the coupons are valid and check for holidays and days of the week and time restrictions.

Always remember when dining out that your server is not the person who cooked and/or fixed up your plate. Tip your server according to their service. If you have problems with the quality of your food ask to speak to the manager.

Ruby Tuesdays has a Triple Prime burger so freshly ground they're not afraid to cook it any way you like, including rare. It's fabulous and the available salad bar ain't too shabby either! Great if you want the finest and can spend $10 for a burger.
